Putak Centre Update

11 Nov 2012 8:52 AM -

The Putak Centre is up and running, providing full time employment for Gregory Narndu and he is working with his partner, Dorothy Kintharri to keep the shop open and clean.

We have had generous donations of clothing from a number of people, with Vicki Newcomb from Bright P-12 College visiting to see her donated clothes being sold in person.

The shop had two early break ins however, Leon and Gregory soon sorted out the offenders and we have had very few problems since then, with the shop being left open most of the time.

Leon (the Indigenous coordinator) has decided that the Putak Centre needs to be re-located to be more available to a larger percentage of the community, Leon and some of the boys will undertake this soon. Moving the shop will requite rebuilding the Rammed Earth, and as we now have the skills required and the resources, this will not be too difficult of a task.

We hope to be selling Gilly’s Beecause Honey before Christmas; also we hope to diversify the products available- any ideas or products are greatly appreciated.
